Zastava ZPAP M70 is one of the better AKs you can buy. I have one, though a fixed stock version. The furniture isn't compatible with most other AKs, if you're wanting to replace with aftermarket parts, which is an annoyance to some, but quality is very good.

Thanks TB. I doubt I will do anything to trick it out. Just looking for a good shooter AK that isn't a piece of junk.

Any other comments/feedback keep it coming!

Look no further. To get anything (marginally) better, you have to pay a lot more for brands like Arsenal. Even then, I'm not sure Arsenal is really any better. The Zastava ZPAP has a stronger trunnion (bulged trunnion) than pretty much anything else, a chrome lined barrel, and rock solid reliability and durability.

I've owned or handled most of them, from Russian to everything else.

The Yugoslav AKs are different than other AKs. Parts wont exchange, furniture, etc, as others mentioned.

They're darn fine guns though. I have two of the current import Zpaps that I like a lot (so much that I bought two more Yugo parts kits to build out).

Let us know how you like it after a few range sessions.

Not uncommon to have to custom tune mag fitment. If most mags fit, try removing very small amount of metal from the rear lug of the magazine until it fits tight. Or if the gun is tight and most mags don't fit, remove very minimal metal from the top of the mag catch lever on the gun, where it engages the rear lug of the mag.

Less common, but can also be an issue with the feed lips hitting further up in the gun and needing filed.

Google should turn up lots of info.

My Zpap M70 is my favorite gun.

So much fun to shoot.

I've had to file the mag catch on a Saiga (known for being a touch long).

One of my two Zastavas was tight.

Preferred method of dealing with it is insert mags over and over and itll wear down to a good spot. Plus, mag change practice. Win/win.

Never had any issues with mags fitting. I have the mag it came with plus 2 steel surplus mags

Wood was a little rough when I got it so I took it apart and oiled it up real good.

It's a beautiful gun now.
