It's back! HEB has briskets for $1.87, limit 2. They went on sale first thing this morning. Got mine at Tower Point, Jones Crossing, and Holleman in College Station.
So when is she going to send out the Texags flier?Dirty-8-thirty Ag said:
Messaged my sister who has been at HEB corporate for about 15 years now. This is what she said "We have ad zones and then there is special retailing set up for compete stores and grand openings/special events".
So it sounds like it's only in certain areas that it's happening.
Have you ever tried Flouro Brisket? It's more expensive, but so worth it. If you need to cut costs, just Braid the point and Flouro the flat.aggiefan09 said:
Make sure yall braid it.
This is 1000% true. I can get a generally pitiful select packer from Walmart sometimes, or a CRAZY expensive (I think they are prime) grass-fed hormone-free point or flat from a local meat market. Those are usually my options in southwest CO.agfan2013 said:
3) That we are so fortunate to have such a variety of selections here in Texas. You want Prime, Choice, or Select? No Problem. Pre trimmed or packer? Got it. Want local raised beef? Just do a quick internet search for your area and be amazed. Go to other states/areas into a store and theyre likely to just have "brisket", it's a gamble on what youre actually getting and forget about having a selection to pick what you want.

I'm impressed by several things:
1) A rook making just his 5th post in 15 years to help the OB get in on a good sale.
2) That we still can still see prices this cheap at the store when cattle prices have been steadily rising since the end of last year and are near their all time highs (likely thanks to retailers running the meat as "loss leaders" to get you in the door).

Anyways, I'd be off to the store if I had more room in my freezer and I didnt already have two from the last sale HEB ran.
Interesting. I was wondering if it had anything to do with areas with a higher Jewish population. I would swear I've seen them do this around Passover before.Dirty-8-thirty Ag said:

Your second. Three day weekend coming up. Sell the brisket at cost, or below, to sell the rest of the items for a proper barbecue.agfan2013 said:

Costco in Fort Worth had a good selection of prime on Wednesday, all in the 12-18 lb range. Makes worth getting a membership a no brainer. The amount I've saved on brisket alone has paid for the membership.BDJ_AG said:
Can confirm $2.99 Prime at Costco in Houston on ih-10, but they only had 1 and it was a 26lb monster.
Very interesting.CTGilley said:
Brisket went to $2 a pound so I ground it for hamburger meat. Vs $4 a pound.
