Wanting to add a new suppressor. Thoughts on the Sandman vs Nomad, and why? Other suggestions?

Isnt the sandman a heavy built machine gun capable can? I really like my nomad Ti. Its bigger than the sandman but light weight and quiet.

Yes.

Tell us what hosts/calibers you want to use the gun on. What you'll be doing with it. A price range, maybe.

Otherwise I'm going to look real dumb when I recommend a large heavy steel full auto rated can for your back country hunting bolt gun, or a titanium K can for your belt fed.

Fair press - I prefer the versatility of a 30 cal suppressor. Have an Omega 300 and Vox S in that class. Other cans in the fleet but specifically looking at another 30 cal.

ETA - I use all Dead Air KeyMo mounts.

ETA 2 - nothing belt fed. Although one can dream.

Primary hosts are semi - AR platforms - and bolt 308. Hunting and target is main use. Weight is a concern but not as much as overall performance.

First stop for any suppressor comparisons/debate should be here:

Lots of good data for tons of different suppressors, and can help you make a choice you'll be happy with.

I have an Omega 300 and recently got in the que for a second suppressor. I was in a similar comparison and went with Nomad. My primary usage will be a bolt gun and sound suppression was primary factor, if primary was a gas fed system I may have gone Sandman. Looking at PewScience the Nomad had higher pressure issues so I believe an AR would require an adjustable gas block to fed correctly where in comparison I've never needed one for my Omega.

PewScience is amazing if you're looking for real comparisons on each factor for a suppressor.

Sandman is a quality unit. I am thinking about a nomad also at some point.

I have enjoyed my Nomad. Is it the quietest? No that's the Hyperion. I like the modularity of the Nomad. Can change for any qd system.

Nomad. Lighter and quieter (to me) than the Sandman S.

I agree with this.

Good thread. I have a Nomad in jail and decided on it over the Sandman.

For those of you with Deadair suppressors... Keymo or Xeno?

I have Keymo on my ARs and Area 419 on my bolt actions. Keymo is a little heavy on a bolt action. Both have been very repeatable with little to no POI shift

Thanks.

Another follow up.... this Nomad is my first suppressor and the main use will be my Ruger SFAR. I will also use it on on 5.56 ARs (both 16" and 10.5"). Eventually I will get more suppressors, so is it better to have a dedicated 5.56 suppressor like the Dead Air Sierra? Or does a 30-caliber suppressor perform better/the same on a 5.56 rifle?

Also, recommendations on a handgun suppressor (dedicated 9mm, or modular 45-caliber and down)?
