Last week I called and payed off this beauty at Burdett & Sons, I have wanted an older Remington 700 for a while and wasn't too picky in caliber to be honest, and the price was right.
Now, I can't really find any modern scopes that are gloss finished, and would like to go that route just to keep the classy look going instead of throwing a scope on with a matte finish. Any recommendations?
I don't have the gun in hand yet but will be picking it up in a couple weeks when I get back in town.

If you can't find one on Tex Ags, a gun show would be a good place to look.

I wanted to rescope my SS Ruger no 1 and found a Vari X III ON eBay but decided on better glass so going to cerakote a Swaro. I've seen that they do gloss as well.

Best bet,as mentioned, is likely a used Leupold. You can look for an old Redfield or Weaver, but ZERO support (warranty) on those.

Used Leupold for sure. I believe you'll be looking at the VariX-III and VariX-II lines. No longer made.

I'd join at one of the various optics forums and search there.

Like mentioned above, Leupold will warranty forever. So even though a cool old Weaver fixed power would be great…no support if it craps the bed.

Thank you! Hard to find them with wood stocks in good condition. My dad bought a 700 in 7 Mag in the 90s and regrets not getting the wooden stock.
Needless to say he's a bit jealous.

Only synthetic stocks I have are waterfowl shotguns and my trusty nylon 66

Recently acquired a Ruger M77 from my father in law in 25-06.. wish it had the wood stock on it but it has the hard plastic.. gun shoots lights out with a 2ish pound trigger on it.

Great looking rifle. I think I looked at it a couple of weeks ago. Be sure to check to see if the trigger has been repaired/replaced given the 700 trigger problems.

Depending on what looking to do with it scan ebay for an old school Redfield Widefield. In their time that was premium glass. And it's period correct for the rifle.

They look great on lever actions too btw.
