Any suggestions on OK bass fishing around The Woodlands area? There's several ponds and Bear Branch & Lake Woodlands - albeit a lot of pressure on these.

Any other suggestions somewhat close to this area? I've recently gotten a little jon boat and I'm hoping to make a weekend habit out of it with my kids.

Check the Texas Outdoor Annual App. You can search nearby fishing spots relative to your location.

If you don't have a motor, you can drop in on Lake Forest (west of 2854/McCaleb). There's a power line on the west side you can put in. It's surrounded by houses but I've never had them give me any trouble when we've kayak'd. It overflows into Montgomery Trace, which is a private lake for the residents. It looks better than it is, most of it is less than 3' deep so fishing mostly by the spillway is best.

And while not as close, you could also try Huntsville State Park/Lake Raven. Tight Lines!

I used to run out at Burroughs Park and never saw too many people fishing.
