Don't know the dynamics of what triggers antler shedding, but the bucks here (west Brazos county) are still carrying theirs in mid-February.
Has to be a study somewhere, as to early/late sheds..

I'm in Leon county and ours are always late February/early March. I've been on places out west and they shed mid January.

Uvalde County - ours drop almost every year the first week and half of March. I'd know for sure but my batteries on cell cam are dead right now.

We did have one year in 2012-14 range where the bucks held antlers until first week of April. Not sure what cause it and haven't seen anything like that in over 20 years there.

I had pics of one that had shed by mid Jan. All the rest still have them. Brazos county.

Always heard it had to do with when the last doe was hot.

There was article written by Dr. Kroll many years back that said age and the previous years nutritional values had a lot to do with it.

I was in Uvalde County over the weekend and all bucks still had antlers.

Still have them in Fremont County, CO

Almost all of my bucks on camera dropped their antlers before December was over up in SE OK.

I live in Leon county as well. Noticed a few dead deer on the side of the road, and you can see they have already dropped. Bout to turn the dog loose this weekend and see if we can't pick up a few

Buck on camera last night in Kerrville. I'll be there this weekend and was wanting to take the dog shed hunting but guessing not much on the ground yet

Will be in Gillespie County this weekend looking for sheds, among other activities....

Kerr County still has antlers but we have them at this time most every year.
