Anybody have experience with their products? Wondering how they hold up and what their effectiveness is with improving quail numbers.

I talked with them at the Park Cities Quail banquet and some guys that used them and raved about them. Said they really do what they are supposed to and have seen real results in increasing the population on their properties.

I have yet to put any on our lease because the cost, but hoping I will have a couple after this year.

Now if they could just get their medicated feed approved by the proper people for sale to the public we would really be in business.

Obviously there are no hogs in that area where the picture was taken.

What stops a fox or Bob cat from just sitting on these things?

The website says hog and varmint proof. Still, I imagine it has to be staked into the ground. I thought about varmints just hanging out and waiting, but if the quail take shelter under the feeder and wait it out, the varmint is likely going to give up and move on.

And they should be hog and varmint proof, for $1250.

I'll hold out for the inevitable Academy Game Winner knock off for $350.

What I read about the test ranches using the medicated feed, QuailGuard, out of the QuailSafe, was that the feeders were set up in good cover so that the birds could come and go without being detected and predators just learning to set on them.

I have heard nothing but positive reviews about the whole system. Just wish we could get the feed out to the public so we could combat the eye worm issues on a large scale.

Not sure what the hold up is but from what I understand it hasn't been approved by the FDA.

There has been much hand wringing over "adulterated/medicated" feeds by the FDA in recent years. Veterinarian approved prescriptions need to be obtained with established relationships, however; the prescriptions are only valid for privately owned animals. Since wild animals are owned by the state valid prescriptions can not be written. It is a huge grey area with many regulatory agencies with different agendas all playing together. Good luck getting the feed anytime soon.

You may be able to artificially create small islands of quail with these products but maintaining sustainable, harvestable numbers is a far fetched dream at best.
