Admittedly I haven't hunted deer in Central Texas when the temperature is below freezing. With next weeks temperature dipping into the 20's will the deer change their habits or is it businesses as usual?

They will get up and move. Just like humans, deer get warmer moving around. Suggest staying in the stand late in the morning and getting to the stand early in the afternoon.

Just go hunt like usual. The temperatures won't change anything.

I have found they move better once the sun is up and they can get some warmth from it. Annecdotal and no science around it.

Same for my area. They are slow to get up and moving on really cold mornings. Definitely need to sit longer in the mornings if it's really cold.

Why don't you go fishing the day before and then sleep in that morning. That is what I would do. I'm only getting up to feed the stove with wood. LOL.

I just remember to take an extra propane canister to the stand, Incase the one in the stand is empty. Deer behave the same.

Just remember that if you hurry up and field dress it the innards will keep your hands warm while gutting it....
