That's an awesome idea! I've been looking for ways to incorporate an AirTag into some of my products as well. I make a slim wallet like that, and have had it miss my pocket a couple of times and not notice it - last time was at the golf course, luckily someone turned it in before I noticed it was missing and they called me.
Have you had any issues with it trying to come out of the pocket? Assuming you're using a veg tan, so it won't stretch much, which should help.
My slim wallet is a different design than yours - I use one piece of leather and it's folded over itself and rivetted and stitched to close. I'd have to redesign it a little to add something like that
I'm planning a re-design on a lot of my tote bags, and I think adding a little slot like that would be pretty easy to do in an inconspicuous place.
This one is Horween shell cordovan, so it does stretch some, but I haven't had any issues - the AirTag stays exactly where it's supposed to. Big reason for that is just the design - the top of the AirTag pocket sits flush against the wallet, and the 1" circular cutout helps sort of lock it in place. This is only two pieces of leather - a long piece folded over itself and one piece (here, black) to create a separate pocket. I've given several away that were made of other types of leather, and so far haven't had any issues regardless of leather used.
The good thing about the little square AirTag pocket is that it's adaptable to any design. I've used it in clutches, keychains, etc., and it has worked really well so far. Not a "slick" as some of the round designs, but I think it's far more useable and adaptable being this 2" square.
