I just saw a bald eagle flying over business 249 in Tomball. Just south of the Walmart and Cane's. It was a very large bird. So cool.

I was driving so I didn't get a picture.

I see them often in my neck of the woods. NE Texas, see them at most lakes around here

There has been a pair that has nested behind the Target store (2920 and 249) for the last 3 years. Very cool.

I've seen one at my buddy's place in Navasota and on Lake LBJ.

Nice shot. Sightings already occurring this year so likely nesting there again.

A few weeks back, this guy was hanging out on the side of the road eating roadkill in Bender's Landing. We regularly see them around our lakes.

Overrated scavengers that, when they decide to nest in an area, make doing anything in that area nearly impossible.

That's where we are with a flood control waterway behind our back fence. Pretty common to see a bald eagle early on Saturday or Sunday morning flying the waterway and it never gets old.

Seen a couple playing golf in Katy. A couple kids got in trouble for shooting one with a pellet gun a few years back, parents had to pay a hefty fine

When are you filming the next "Grumpy Old Men" movie?

I know the eagle on the left is a juvenile, but he/she looks like she just woke up from a massive bender last night and has a hangover.

I get that they are the national bird and what not, but the restrictions around them are beyond stupid and when a nesting pair is in the area pretty much nothing can be done around them that would constitute "disturbing" the active nest.

They are a pain to deal with.

I was in a nearby town waiting on some friends, not long ago. This led to me sitting around outside watching nature. As I looked up and saw a large flock of birds, believing them to be vultures. Shortly there after, one bald eagle appeared far enough away from the flock, then another, then another, then add one more. So a total of four (4) bald eagles were within my eyesight. Never have I ever witnessed more than two (2) on any occasion.

Must be tough playing golf without opposable thumbs. Did they have a special set of clubs?

Agreed. I also get the whole National Bird thing, but they are indeed scavengers.

Saw one last year that was camped out on a dead deer carcass for days. Crows were trying to get at it, but they wouldn't get too near the Eagle. It was a teachable moment for my daughter, riding with me at the time....

Told her its damn shame that a bird that can soar above storms being down on the ground with the lowlifes......all due respect.

You'd have a different attitude if it was you who couldn't develop or improve your property if it was "deemed harmful" to these birds, with no compensation. Try you think of it in those terms.

Sounds as though some may be involved in development around Hughes Landing where these are.

Go to Juneau Alaska, there were 2 on every streetlight we passed.

Bald Eagles are not scavengers like Black or Turkey Vultures, that feed almost exclusively on carrion. I've heard stories of vultures picking the eyes out of kid goats here in Kimble County but don't know if the goats were live or dead at the time. The eagles primary food is fish, live fish which they catch. Several years ago between Junction and Rocksprings I came across an adult Bald Eagle on a fresh road-kill deer. Essentially in a circle around the feeding eagle were 15-20 vultures waiting. They knew what the pecking order was. No camera when needed.

The bald eagle population has quadrupled in the last decade. They are everywhere in the Midwest.

That's a good thing! And I support their protection. Just disapprove of Draconian measures to private property owners.

Along Cypress Creek by the big lake. Guess Howard Hughes has enough money to sweep it under the rug.

We do have BE's on our property and it hasn't impacted us much at all and we have done quite a bit (adding a barn and renovating the old house) to the property.
