I had the opportunity to spend the Bama weekend with Reel Recovery, meeting with other men on cancer journeys, sharing our thoughts in 'Courageous Conversations' and getting introduced to fly fishing.

I met with the north Texas chapter in Glen Rose as the fall Hill Country retreat was for veterans only. Here are some pics (sorry for the photo dump) from the weekend.

(1) Every man signs the fishing jacket and the jackets rotate around venues.

(3) My Saturday Fishing Buddy Mike

(4) We fished a creek and caught some small bass and brim

(5) My Sunday Fishing Buddy Sareesh

(6) Some Sunday Bass

I had an absolutely pleasant weekend with Reel Recovery, if you know a man who is a cancer survivor you should 'hook them up'. The weekend is free, just have to provide your own transportation.

Reel Recovery will be just down the road at Camp Allen this weekend (southeast of Navasota). It's an awesome group.

Sounds like a great support group! Don't forget caregivers - their job can be a living Hell, too, and there is ZERO support out there for them.
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

That's a fact. My local cancer foundation has a support group for caregivers and my wife attends.

They'll eventually figure out that taking care of the caregiver also supports the patient.

I wish I would have known about this group before we lost Dad. He would have loved it.
