Growing all over one of my pastures in college station (wildlife exemption, so don't do anything active with it). Haven't seen it previously. Some are as tall as 6'

"Coffee bean"*

*Senna bean, but some old square heads around Brenham used to call it "coffee bean" supposedly because it was used like chicory (as a coffee substitute) after the "War of Northern Aggression".

I'm out cutting them off at the ground. I'll create a big burn pile, unless someone wants me to bring a truck full to their place.

Ahahaha, you might get shot. When I had the hunting buggy with a tall bench seat that you could shoot off, I'd put my 3 boys up on the seat, tie them in and then run through the mature Cenna beans. They'd be hit with the beans but we were having fun. Better yet was when I'd run them through the garden spider gauntlet, Good Times!

So, other than being unsightly, being legumes, should I just allow them to reproduce and not try to manage? I guess I have not seen them previously because I have been out shredding the pasture on a regular basis, but this year, I chose to let it grow out, and we are going to have a burn this winter.

I call them Senna Beans and 2-4-D takes care of them

They'll die out in the winter and drop the seed pods, so I'm not sure I'd do too much now aside from mow over them they've already seeded out. Hit them with a broadleaf weed killer when they come up next year before they seed out and you'll see a reduction, or keep it mowed to minimize overall weed growth. Goat Weed and Senna beans have been my big problem, and between mowing and some light 2-4-D use I really dont get much anymore. Goat weed is the worst - but I'd take it over mesquite any day
