I am in the process of purchasing a new o/u shotgun.

Browning Cynergy Wicked Wing Bottomland 12 Ga 3-1/2in 30in 018719203

vs

Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I Over/Under 686 J686FM0 686 Silver Pigeon I 686

The wicked looks awesome but it's hard to leave out the silver pigeon.

Thoughts???

Both are great. My biggest gripe on the Beretta is the safety turns on every time you close the gun. I prefer to have control.

Beretta all day. I can't get on board with the synthetic stock O/U with coated barrels.

That Browning Cynergy has the worst balance of any O/U I've ever picked up in my life. Have you handled one?

On the other hand, I like my Browning 725 much more than my Silver Pigeon. I've finally decided to sell my Silver Pigeon because my son doesn't want it either. It's my favorite gun to look at, but the geometry just bruises both of our cheeks so I'd recommend finding somewhere to shoot them before buying on Gunbroker

I love Brownings. But....

I also shoot a lot and pick the Beretta here. 686 is one of the best shotguns out there for the price point. Also the safety issue referenced above is a cheap fix at the gunsmith

The 686 Field models have the safety that resets each time the breach is opened. Sporting models do not.

I wish the safety on my over/unders would turn on automatically when I close it. Sounds like a smart feature.

I'm constantly checking to make sure I didn't forget.

A gunsmith can fix that for you.

Between just those two guns I'd say the beretta, but you also have two guns selected that are meant for completely different jobs. Apples to apples I would choose a field grade browning 725 over the beretta but that's because I like brownings.

To me it was just the feel. I was deciding between a browning citori 725 and a Beretta silver pigeon. I couldn't hit anything with the Beretta but with citoei I hit 23 out of 25 on skeet with a friend's citori. Looking at the specs afterwards I saw that the comb height was greater in the Browning vs the Beretta.

Obviously that can be customized but I wanted something good to go out of the box and the citori simply sat higher for me than the Beretta. I found the height of the citori similar to a Remington 870.

Long and short of it I found putting whatever I was interested in to my cheek or if possible take shots with it

i'm with ZW. how do they feel and shoulder. i can't fit a baretta up against my face well when shouldering. i have no problem with my dad's 1970 baretta - but can't touch any new models. browning

Save up and get a used Guerini or just get a Benelli super sport or Ethos super sport

I have always thought of over/unders in the 2k range to just be lacking. My Guerini Summit I can go 200 sporting clays and not feel much, with a super sport I feel even less. Every O/U I have tried in the price range of 2k seem to kick like a mule, rattle, or just seems heavy to me personally.

I'm no world class gunsmith but this has been my experience over the last 10 years. Just never shot one in that range that made me think I just had to buy one.

I have the wicked wing and love it. But like stated above, those are two different guns meant for two different purposes. I got the wicked wing so I could have a weather durable o/u to the duck blind.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I should have posted my main uses of the gun.

I want to use mainly for dove hunting and recreational skeet shoots that I do.

I have shouldered both guns but have yet to shoot the Browning. I've shot the silver pigeon on several occasions and really do like the feel of it.

As stated above with the wicked as it never fails to rain on us during the special white wing season in South Texas the durability is one of my selling points on that Browning.

Beretta O/Us stocks have some cast, Browning's do not, that means that for some people one gun is a much better fit than the other. I love the look of the 686 but they don't fit me as well as a Browning. It is easy to make a gun "fit" in the store when it is calm, it is much different when the birds are flying.

I have never been a fan of the cynergy for the reason that Fido98 posted, they just don't feel right, but that is a subjective thing.

If you aren't going to go out in nasty conditions, the wicked wing is overkill. I don't mean the occasional rain storm , the wicked wing is built for duck blinds and snow and salt marshes. I have shot my Zsport in the rain for hours without issue, the beretta will be fine as long as you clean it well.

And just to make it an official TexAgs recommendation post, save your money until you can afford a Cosmi like the rest of the ballers on here shoot.

I'll never buy another Browning OU as long as I live. I had a field grade 725 that crapped out after a few years and the repair costs was almost the cost of a new one, it was garbage. Shooting a 686 now and haven't looked back.
