Why is corn called Deer corn anyway? Is it filtered differently.. I grew up on a ranch and we used to laugh at places calling it deer corn.. corn is corn isn't it ? We used our crimped corn meal and the deer loved it .. but it wasn't great in regular feeders

President Camacho?
Because it is combined, dumped at a grain elevator, and hopefully run through a seed cleaner before being bagged as deer corn. And hopefully checked for aflatoxin and moisture before becoming deer corn. I like to see bags of deer corn labeled as " re-cleaned ". Because it is actually all cleaned by the harvesting combine.fullback44 said:

Davis Feed Mill in Hico? They always seem expensive.
We use Micobe in Hamilton.
If you buy the doe corn instead of the buck corn it's a dollar cheaper.fullback44 said:

It was done initially to identify it to deer hunters when it was first marketed at convenience stores. Prior to that, shell corn was only available at feed stores or grain elevators. And modern combines clean grain so well I doubt it's even necessary to reclean it right off the turnrow.fullback44 said:
