It is shark week.

On video, would you have tried to hook and reel in the torso?

Yea I don't f with the ocean. A woman we know who's also an Aggie almost lost her leg a few weeks ago off the coast of Florida to an attack. Husband jumped in and pulled her aboard the pontoon boat they rented while their kids watched. Had a 20 minute ride back to shore. Damn near killed her.

I'd swim in the gulf with goggles.

No way in hell I would swim in great white hunting territory or in river mouths or estuaries where big female bull sharks are.

Maybe Nancy could go do some assault weapons research in those waters?

Sharks aren't my biggest fear in Australia.

There's a damn little thumb sized jelly fish that touching a single tentacle on bare skin will put you in the hospital in what has been described as the worst agony imaginable.

Yea those damn irukandji jellies are what freak me out the most. Venom potent enough to cause a brain hemorrhage in something the size of the tip of my thumb? No thank you.

I think I'd just rather stay away from Australia all together…..feel like they got some of the worst of every type of species on this planet hanging out there

That's funny. Hell that's half the reason I want to go there.

I'll stick to wading at SPI where the biggest threat are sting rays.

I bet you've had a good size bull shark swim near you and didn't even know it.

Highly doubt it in 3-4 feet of water.

Honestly not sure if serious. Bull sharks are long, not deep. 3-4 feet is more than enough for a very large bull shark.

I just got back from Costa Rica. There was an estuary there that apparently is absolutely loaded with crocodiles and empties into the Pacific right at the edge of town on a very popular beach . Someone gets attacked there by a croc pretty much every year from what I read and who knows what kind of shark activity they have there. In spite of all of the crocodiles(and the "beware of crocodiles" signs everywhere), there were people wading across the estuary(it was still chest deep) during low tide to get over to the other less crowded beach. Lots of people swimming and surfing at the mouth of the estuary too.

Honestly didn't know that but it would be very rare at SPI.

Almost all fish and predators are in the first gut within 6 feet off the beach at first light. That's where the best fishing is for humans and predators at that time of day IMHO. Sharks follow all that bait wherever it is. Why do you think there are no sharks at SPI?

Just curious.

Tamarindo?

An American surfer lost his leg there several years ago. And part of the issue with the crocs there is all the tourist operations feeding them.
