Outdoors related because their lobbying effort against the 2A should already make them radioactive. But in case you needed another reason:

Shares of Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. DKS, 8.30% shot up 9.6% in midday trading Friday, to pace all the SPDR S&P Retail ETF's XRT, 3.34% gainers, after Chief Executive Lauren Hobart said the sporting goods retailer will help pay travel expenses if employees need to obtain a legal abortion. Earlier Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which had granted the right to abortion in all 50 states for nearly the past 50 years, paving the way for roughly half the states to ban abortion. "In response to today's ruling, we are announcing that if a state one of our teammates lives in restricts access to abortion, DICK's Sporting Goods will provide up to $4,000 in travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where that care is legally available," Hobart said in a LinkedIn message. The stock's rally outperformed its retail peers and the broader stock market by a wide margin, as the SPDR S&P Retail ETF rose 3.4% and the S&P 500 SPX, 2.45% advanced 2.3%.

I can honestly say I have never shopped there or even been in the store. However they deserve all the backlash they get over the multiple dumbass decisions to comply with the masses the last few years.

Will NEVER shop there! Question: Why do they not provide $4000 to employees with new borns??? Gotta ask if this is discrimination, is it not all about choice, if you chose to have the baby you do not get any help???

Last time I shopped at Dick's was a few years ago when they were getting rid of all the hunting and shooting items. Bought several guns at a 30% discount.

Was this the place that stopped selling AR's after some mass shooting a few years back? Didn't their little virtue signal tank their stock and piss off their shareholders?

Yup, they got rid of ARs from their stores. And now you have companies like Patagonia saying they will pay for anyone that gets arrested protesting. Glad I did not do business with either already.

Corporations should stay out of politics if it doesn't directly impact their business.

Will they pay for men who want a vasectomy? I mean, that falls under "reproductive choice" , doesn't it?

Their altruism will disappear quickly after their shareholders discover an $800,000 loss paying for this *****

One of the worst effects of 24/7 cable news (besides popularizing shooting up your school for your 15 min of fame) has been politicizing absolutely everything. Nothing is allowed to be apolitical and we are all worse for it.

Companies who provide abortion access are not doing so out of altruism. They're doing so out of the interest of their bottom line. Losing employees to maternity leave, training a replacement, and paying healthcare premiums is very expensive. Murdering babies in the womb is relatively cheap.

They are looking out for their bottom line $4,000 is way cheaper than 12 weeks paid maternity leave. This is a business decision, evil business decision

Yep, but it's hard for me to upset over it. They have to do what's best for business. If I don't like it, I can shop elsewhere. Not that My lack of patronage will be felt in any meaningful way.

Surely they're giving $4000 vacations to their hard working employees who make good decisions and don't murder their babies, right?

You mean, something along the lines of insurance that covers neo-natal and delivery costs followed by maternity leave? Understand you not liking anyone wanting to help someone get an abortion but at least think out your arguments more thoroughly.

Reading skills? I didn't call for full medical coverage, I specified a cash amount for an example. Maybe you should think out your response.

I thought they stopped selling guns altogether, but the one in the League City area (Houston) had a very nice selection of rifles, shotguns, pistols and a few "black rifles". I was pleasantly surprised at the selection (better than Academy).

Do they have 7mm-08 ammo? I'd be willing to purchase from Satan, Dicks, or Joe Biden himself if he could hook me up with two boxes for less than 30 bucks each.

Check your own reading skills. If they're offering to cover costs up to $4000 that is far more akin to covering insurance costs for maternity care and delivery, and as to handing out cash, how about paying out on top of the insurance, depending on salary, likely more than $4000 for up to 8 weeks paid maternity leave. Cool your anger at a corporate action you don't like and think clearly.

I bought one thing from the dicks at Dicks.

They had a pair of boots for about $25 cheaper than anywhere else. When the boots showed up, they still had the anti theft tag on. I called them and they credited me $50. Then took the tag off with zero issues. Hopefully they lost a few Pennies on the deal

It's worse than that.

They virtue signaled loudly the stopped selling all ARs, then after the heat faded, quietly started selling them again. Next time a psycho used another AR for a shooting, they loudly virtue signaled AGAIN they would top selling them. They got credit and pats on the back both times from the Left, who conveniently "forgot" the return to selling of ARs.

Double Virtue Signal Points, and moved dead inventory.

F-ing hypocrites.

I remember Academy pulled all of their evil black rifles off the shelf a few years ago just to appease the woke mob. They still kept them in the back, but just had to virtue signal.

Did they ever bring them back out?

Went there prolly 3 years ago to get christmas gifts. Walking around getting stuff, hands full, walked over to what was the gun area, asked an employee "wheres all the guns and ammo?". He responded "dicks went gun free" I dropped all my items right there in the aisle and left never to return.
