Anyone have any opinions or comments on their MauiBrilliant lenses? The frame I want does not come with their Superthin glass lense. These would basically be an everyday/driving pair of glasses so I am looking for something with great clarity.

I have no prior experience with MJ so all comments are welcome. Currently wear Costa's glass and poly lenses, and frankly I enjoy the glass much better for casual/driving wear. Easier to clean and much clearer than the poly's I have.

I have had a pair of MJ Stingrays for driving for over a decade and I love them. I have some Costas in the other vehicle but that's primarily because I can wear those with a hat when we have outdoor activities. The ear pieces on my MJ's are too thick to accommodate wearing a hat with them. I prefer the MJs but I can't use them all the time. I also prefer the glass lenses.

Mine have the MauiBrilliant lenses. I love them but I don't like glass due to the weight so I have only worn poly lenses since I was a kid.

I have owned several pairs of MJ prescription sunglasses and really liked them. My problem with the was that they did not hold up to abuse very well. I am hard on my sunglasses. Switched to Costas last year. I have really enjoyed them so far.

I've pretty much ditched Costas completely for MJs and one of the big reasons was weight. I've got MauiGreen, Hawaii Lava, Maui HT, and HCL Bronze. Green and Lava are my favorite all-around, but purely driving Bronze are hard to beat. The HT lenses have been a game changer for "overcast bright" conditions. I love those things when it's cloudy

My prescription Maui's are light AF compared to a ton of other options I've tried over the years

Yes, all my Costas and MJ sunglasses are glass lenses. I sort of have a problem.

Just realized the pair up front are the MauiBrilliant and weren't available in glass with the Maui Rose. I wear those quite a bit during the day for work. Extremely light weight and comfortable and good optical quality.

I picked up a cheaper pair of Oakleys last year sometime to put in my "go" backpack so they'd be there regardless. They have sort of a red tinted lens to them. I wore them the other day and really liked how they "brightened" things up. As I'm getting older, my contrast is less and less, and I'm looking for lenses that will bring out that contrast.

So with that in mind for you MJ guys (I have 2 pair and wanting to get another one; the Oakleys aren't comfortable enough for extended wear), a couple of questions:

1. What lenses have you noticed help with contrast?
2. If I place a special MJ order, can they match the frame with my desired lenses? Their website didn't indicate that. It showed certain lenses with certain frames, and the frames I want didn't have the colored lens choices (depending on what the answer to 1 is).

I don't mind paying a little more and waiting.

As far as spending money, I have easily $750 or more in sunglasses but they're worth it. My oldest Oakleys (M Frames) are 22 years; I have MJs that are 15-ish; another pair that's around 8; and Oakleys at about a decade. I use the oldest Oakleys for shooting, woodwork, yardwork, etc. It hasn't had the tinted lens on the frame in years. I wish Oakleys or other sport sunglasses were around when I was playing baseball in HS.

Love my MJs. They're prescription and still lightweight. Want to get a another pair with Blue Hawaii lenses. I was somewhat disturbed to learn Maui Jim has long departed the islands and now made by a bunch of guidos and gangsters in Chicago. So there's that.

how bad are y'all's eyes? I am -6.00,-5.25 and haven't gone that route because I'm afraid they will be too thick/ heavy for the price. They were going to $600+ a few years back
