I'm tossing around the idea of a bumper pull cattle trailer that is between 12 and 16ft long. I have an old 16ft gooseneck now, but the truck I'd normally use is having issues and is about at the end of its life. Where are some of the better dealers or brands I should be looking at around BCS? +/- 75 miles?

Bryan is home to Gooseneck. I'd start there if you're looking to keep it local.

Are you only looking at new trailers? I know a couple people that repaint and resell cattle and horse trailers pretty close by if you would be interested.

Put a gooseneck in the new truck? Seems like most half tons can handle them okay.

Otherwise, there is a trailer dealer on 21 in between 2818 and Riverside campus that sold CM trailers a few years ago.

I'm in the market for a gooseneck cattle trailer. I stopped by Gooseneck a couple weeks ago and they said they are a year out on retail orders. If you want one of their trailers you'll have to find a dealer.

What kind of shape is yours in? I've been looking for a used 20 or 24 but might be interested in a 16 depending on condition and price?

All along I-30 up by Mount Pleasant, Sulfur Springs are manufacturer's and trailer outlets.
You can save $$ taking the ride. Go on their web sites and shop for what you want then call. I saved over 2K going that route.

Have you hauled with a bumper pull?
No comparison on gooseneck vs bumper when hauling cattle.

When my old cow trailer finally fell apart, I didn't replace it.

Most sale barns will pick up your calves and any cows you want to cull.

Any special trips like buying a bull I hire a custom hauler for couple hundred bucks.

Comments overheard on a stock and horse trailer dealer's lot:

Cattleman: What you got for $1,500?

Equestrian: My budget is $85,000, but I can go higher if need be.

For what I have to haul around and the distance, it isn't a big deal. My dump trailer weighs more unloaded. I get what you're saying though.

Tried to buy a horse trailer from them as I know the owner. They were the highest of everybody I shopped.

If OP's trailer doesn't work for you, I have an older 16' that I am willing to sell. It has a good floor and new tires. It is very well built, but it needs painting and it could use new lights. Email is in my profile.

The day we lost 7 head trapped in a turned over bumper pull trailer right in the middle of a busy FM road was the day I decided that bumper pull livestock trailers would never be in my future.

My uncles partner just had to give his step son & his 1500 something to do...

I've got both gooseneck and bumper pull livestock trailers with the bumper pull doubling as my primary horse trailer. The older I get, the less I like using the gooseneck for anything. I limit my bumper pull to 3-4 calves, with some consideration of their temperament factored in. Don't be stupid and overload any trailer. A bumper pull is just fine for a small cattle operation. If I need to send several to auction I call the yard to pick them up.

Try Kawasaki of Caldwell. They usually have a few reasonable bumper pulls.
