Yes. I've done it.

I would imagine you could play with the thrower and funnel drop some and make it work if it is heavy enough. We 3D printed slightly longer and narrower funnels to make the protein pellets we use in ours throw better without dropping out whenever the wind blew too hard. Now if we could just keep the bees out of them, we would be golden.

OP if you're doing it for quail, keep in mind that predators can concentrate their efforts on the feeder as well.

If straight milo your going to have to decrease the spinner plate distance from the funnel or it will possibly gravity feed all out.
