Anybody have any idea how the hunting is up in the Mount Pleasant/Pittsburg area? Just moved up here!

I'm in Paris and it seems like everyone and their dog hunts or fishes, so has to be something. I'm new to the area too so not much help.

Just fyi Bogota is "Buh-go-tuh". I still get it wrong and get weird looks.

Been in that area some and a buddy of mine has family land near there. Supposedly a lot of hogs around the Sulphur River, didn't see a whole lot of deer though.

White Oak Creek WMA.
Best public land option. Can have some good duck hunting.

There is a public access hog hunting (shotgun or archery only) area on the Sulphur River below Cooper Lake.

Almost everything else is private land and the cost of leases and the number of high fences have been steadily increasing.

OMG we have a Bogata, Texas reference on TexAgs--Is this a sign of the end times?

I hunted near there in Cooper for years on private land about a mile from the sulphur river and I have family with a farm in Nelta. There are deer and pigs to be had, but don't expect hill country volume. Deer hunting is okay if you arent looking for a trophy every year and don't mind seeing 1-2 per sit on a good day. Although I have seen some nice ones wonder in on occasion. In 10 or so years of hunting an old dairy farm that backed up to about a mile of woods headed to the river I mainly saw yearling bucks and the occasional two year old. I'd see a 120-130" 4yr old MAYBE twice a season hunting the rut, but of course, I could never get a shot. A decent number of does, which is what we mainly shot during special doe season the week of thanksgiving. I'd normally see 1-2 does on an average day and maybe a 4pt. Pigs are readily available.

I grew up in Mt. Pleasant. There is good Deer, Hog, Duck, squirrel & coyote hunting there. Also alot of good fishing. There are big bucks killed around every year. Check out titus county meat processing on facebook, they show alot of bucks that were killed last year.
