Figured this would be the experts to ask, but thinking of pulling the travel trailer to broken bow area and wondered if there were any rv parks that were recommended over others in the area. Just starting to look and I have never been to the area so I am open to ideas. TIA.

The beavers bend state park is hard to beat for a few night stay. Just water and electric, no sewer, except for a few spots that seem to stay booked. Cypress area is where I usually go, but there are a few RV spots in the bend area if you can get them.

The RV spots in Hochatown state park on the lake are usually easier to get and there is much less traffic driving through the campground at all hours than in Beavers Bend.

The new privately owned The Narows and Cucumber Creek RV parks are 30-49 miles up Hwy. 259 and are in locations that offer good smallmouth fishing in the warmer months.

I absolutely would stay in the state park, river area. Elm is the best. It's also the hardest to book. Other than that, I like cypress (I think. It's the inner of two loops). If you can't stay in the park, I don't really think it matters a whole lot. I've stayed at two every parks outside of the state park, and neither were really nice. But when your goal is to be seeing the sights, you're not really at camp very much.

ETA, the river area and lake area aren't part of the same park really. It's a bit of a drive between the two. I guess it depends on your goals.

We enjoy flat water kayaking and hiking. Thanks for the advise so far and we are thinking of going over spring break so I may be out of luck in the park already lol.

As for kayaking, the park hosts a short trip that is very easy and pretty cheap in the warmer months. For hiking, the only trails that I know of are in the river area of the park.

For river access we really like Beavers Bend State Park Acorn unit park sites 1-10. I think 5 was our favorite.

Just a heads up though. You're not allowed in the river at acorn. It's downstream from a hydro electric plant. They periodically release tons of water.
