back in the day, I guided duck hunts in West TX. we had car batteries out at the blind that we would hook up various motion decoys....

one of them was a water keel decoy that we hooked a small bilge pump to the bottom using zip ties. we put a blinker switch on it, and it "pulsed" water. KICK ass motion decoy.

wondering if the OB knows if there is a better power source these days?

We use a small 12 volt deer feeder battery to bilge pump rain water out of our duck boat. From Walmart.

We did the same but used a feeder duck but and zip tied a bilge pump with a 90* elbow. That ran to a deer feeder battery with a blinker switch

It looked good when everything worked

We have done that also.

My issue is that in Texas, I just stowed a battery at the blinds. Now I'm in GA and have to hike in. Trying to figure a lightweight option for the battery.

They have cheap adapters for power tool batteries to give you a 12v outlet from a 18v lithium ion battery pack.

Put up a 12 volt solar panel to keep the battery charged when you aren't there.

I've got to walk it in each time. That's why I'm looking for something light weight

Leave the battery in the blind with the panel connected. Carry in one time. If needed take two batteries. Leave them there all year.

Public land. I have to carry it in every time

Jerk String. I like a pulsator decoy better for movement, but for a long walk in the jerk string is better. I use them still and did when I was hunting the potholes in central Washington, which was all walk in.
Edited for a tip. Use a nylon bag that you fill with rocks when you get to your spot for your decoy jerk line weight. Empty when the hunt is over. Every bit helps when you are packing in and out.

This is if works. Gotta carry all your stuff in, but a rechargeable battery pack >>>> any 12 V variety.

Extreme light weight if you have a Milwaukee m12. Not sure the type of run time you could get but these little batteries are pretty powerful.
