If you were searching for a 16' gooseneck dump trailer, with a front telescoping lift, which brand trailer would you buy and from what dealer in Texas?

Thanks!

We have a Texas Pride 16'. Have had it over 10 years. Damn good trailer. No issues. Make sure you get one with dual hydraulics.
We've put it through hell.

Just out of curiosity, why do you like the dual cylinder design?

I own a dumpster/dump trailer rental business and I've got two US Built front telescoping lift dump trailers. They are made by Texas Pride, just rebranded. They aren't top of the line, but they have been very good trailers for me. The front telescoping lift is 100% the way to go. Much faster than the scissor or dual cylinder lifts and has never given me grief on dumping something. Biggest load that it's handled is 13k pounds and it wasn't an issue.

Another vote for Texas Pride

We've got a winch trailer & 9 boxes from them. Love them

I would recommend at least considering the roll off box setup; its a little more money but the flexibility is worth it tenfold. It works just like a normal dump trailer, but you can drop the box off completely if you want to.

Watching- I've never had a dump trailer but have always wanted one. The last trailers I bought were both PJ trailers from Nationwide Trailer on 45N in Houston. It's been a few years but at the time PJ was one of the best and would custom order with extra metal priming and or paint specs. Looks like nationwide has locations also in Pasadena, Odessa, San Antonio, and ft worth. Prices and inventory are included on their website.
At the 45N location in Houston, there are several other large trailer sales lots with different brands located next door. Great parts selection there as well.
ETA that I want a low profile one to make loading vehicles into it easier/safer. 16 or maybe 20. It seems like trailers are never long enough…

If you want top line, I'd look at Diamond C, but they are quite proud of them cost wise. I am an Ag Mechanics teacher and we've built several dump trailers over the past few years. From looking at all of the major brands for ideas, I've been most impressed with theirs. Load Trail also builds a pretty good trailer as well.

This. Having dual hydraulics is a must.

Too much strain on a single hydraulic cylinder.

Your 3 basic options for lift are going to be Scissor (probably most common), dual direct push cylinders, or telescoping cylinder (found on semi dump trailers). Each have advantages and disadvantages.

Thanks for the comments. The front telescoping design is the winner in my eyes due to the strength and the fact that it is gravity down, thereby saving battery life. Texas Pride had a YouTube video comparing each of their dump options.

The fact I found a friend with a trailer with dual cylinders to rent allows me to push off the purchase.

Every trailer maker has a power up , gravity down option. It's a function of the hydraulic power unit, not the cylinder. Power up, gravity down is good here in the south, and yes, it uses less battery. Up north in cold weather, you need power up, power down.
