Anyone know where to get a good firepit? Like one I can put some decent sized logs in, not a permanent one that's built into the ground, but similar to the ones you find outside Bucees

Heb has some for sale in front of their stores. I'm almost positive they are all seasons feeders. I don't have one but they look really nice.

HEB in San Antonio has some really solid pits. Picked one up myself. It takes two full sized people to move it, and even that was a bit heavy.

$400 and it uses thick metal. I don't know much about fire pits but a neighbor who thinks he knows what he's taking about said he was impressed.

Sounds like you already checked out buccees but our Old Country fire pit from there has held up really well 18 months in.

I know a dude in the Sealy area who builds a good pit.

We bought a fire pit from Bad Habit BBQ Pits in La Vernia and have been very happy with it. Fire pits at HEB are indeed made by All Season Feeders.

I found mine outside buccees…. Although they're about $75-$100 more now than when I bought around 2 years ago. Been a great pit though. No complaints.

I like the ones outside Buccees, I just didn't know if there were better/cheaper ones available. I am thinking I will just drive down to Buccees off of 290 (closest one) and see if they have one and get it. The ones at HEB look nice but I want one that's a little heartier.

There was a poster not too far from B/CS who was on here about 5 years ago that taught a shop class at a local high school that had some cool ones they sold. I can't find the bookmark/site any longer.

This thread comes up every few years though.

I bought this one last year and it's holding up to our Montana weather pretty well.

Not sure where you're located but I've seen nice ones from Texas Gates in Marshall. Will probably get one when my boys are bigger and less likely to get into the fire.

Seem like good quality but $$$.

Solo Stove if you don't like smoke. The Yukon fits standard firewood.

This is the one I bought for my husband. I think they used to make the Bucee's firepits years ago before they switched to All Season.

Ours has held up really well. Over 6 years now in the elements and it's doing well.

Circle J Fabrication out of White Settlement has some nice ones, various sizes with or without grills.

We got ours from Lone Star Grills in Willis, TX. Has held up well for 3 years now, very heavy.

Not cheap, but darned if the thing didn't burn as advertised.

My brother often overspends, and I thought he was nuts for buying a $1500 stainless pit. While I still think it's over-priced, it did burn a near smokeless fire and looks nice to boot.

I always thought these were pretty cool, although shipping always stopped me. Found a place that sold tank heads locally and had a fab shop weld legs on it and build a snuffer plate. IMO, better than anything at a big box store. Lots of different designs.

Beautiful pits! But I am with you, the shipping here stopped me dead in my tracks. Which sucks because that is the pretty much the exact pit I would love! Right dimensions and everything! What was the place locally that you found one?

I bought mine at Trinity Heads in Navasota and took a picture like the one above to a local welding shop and had them finish it out. Lots of good design ideas and accessories on that website that most fab shops can replicate.

These guys out of san angelo will apparently sell you the parts, ship them, and then you can weld/find a fabricator to weld them together locally. No idea if it's a good/reliable place.

My FIL has the 60" from lone star grills. It's massive and has held up every well outside in the elements for 3 years now. Like that it has a grate for cooking large amounts of meat when we hang out and the foot rail.

These guys have good ones too I believe, a bit closer from Kansas City but with a snuffer it's still about a grand with shipping for the 3 foot wide model. (I like that theirs doesn't have the legs welded on so it can tilt).

Curious, does anyone make these around CS or DFW (or Conroe) for a similar price point? If I could save $250 bucks and just pick it up it would be worth it to me.

I was going to suggest this. I was on the Ag Mechanics Committee in Houston for years, judged in San Antonio for over 15 years, and Comal County for 6. A lot of our projects are from someone approaching the school's FFA, saying they'd pay for materials, the kids can take to show, then you get it after the shows are over. You won't believe how complex and elaborate these projects can be. "A high school kid built that!!!?"

One caveat. All high school FFAs focus and, are pretty good, with animals. The real quality Ag Mech projects tend to come out of a relatively limited number of schools where they have teachers that are dedicated to teaching these skills.
