We sent a pair in a few months ago, heard nothing, no confirmation they had received them. Nada. Weeks went by. I reached out on their web and got an email from a company - Lux something - that said they handled repairs for a bunch of different sunglass vendors and they had the glasses but that was it.
Surprised me, last set we sent in a few years ago was handled by Costa and communication emails were much better. Still don't have the glasses back.
Luxottica bought them out. Same company that bought oakley and nearly every other successful sunglass company. Lux probably owns 50-60% of the optical frame industry with Marchon, Safilo, and a few others fighting for the scraps. It's ridiculous and they are always looking for the next percentage point to buy.
Lux was always a nightmare to deal with when in the industry and the moment Costa went to the dark side, I knew that I was going to bail. Gave one group buy a shot under Luxottica and said never again. Costa cared about their brand and did what they needed to grow the brand. The brand is a dollar figure for Lux and they care more about bottom line than tending the brand image. Yes, tending the brand image is still part of what they do, but it's not the priority it once was.
I sold Costa because I knew that they were better than average on customer service and that I could go to bat for a customer if I needed to (it happened several times). Once Lux bought them out, I said screw it. I'm out.
