Dropped my glasses and cracked a lens.

Costa is saying they can't repair and don't have spare parts, although I can buy the exact same glasses online. I assume it's because the rubber bands on the frame are gone with the part number.

Anyone out there that can swap a lens on these things or are they trash?

Replacing lenses on high wrap frames is a pain. Realistically going to need a 3d trace and a machine to cut that trace. Most opticals aren't equipped to handle that. So first problem is finding aubergine to do it. Then you gotta get then to do it for a reasonable price

Last pair I sent to Costa had 580G lenses, they sent me back plastic lenses.

We sent a pair in a few months ago, heard nothing, no confirmation they had received them. Nada. Weeks went by. I reached out on their web and got an email from a company - Lux something - that said they handled repairs for a bunch of different sunglass vendors and they had the glasses but that was it.

Surprised me, last set we sent in a few years ago was handled by Costa and communication emails were much better. Still don't have the glasses back.

I had a crack in the temple of my glasses at the hinge causing them to fit loosely. They were 580Gs I bought from EyeGuy in a group buy in 2017 I think. I sent them off to Costa and they returned a brand new identical pair in under 3 weeks. This was last week. That's the 2nd time they've done that for me. I've always been impressed with their customer service/warranty.

Ive used Fuze lenses for my oaks, they make lenses for tons of brands/models in poly. Maybe they have glass, not sure but worth a look...

Costa used to service their stuff well, but that's over.

They tried to do that and said they didn't have the glass lenses in the frames I wanted in stock. I pulled them up on the website, showed them, and boom- got my glass lenses.

Luxottica bought them out. Same company that bought oakley and nearly every other successful sunglass company. Lux probably owns 50-60% of the optical frame industry with Marchon, Safilo, and a few others fighting for the scraps. It's ridiculous and they are always looking for the next percentage point to buy.

Lux was always a nightmare to deal with when in the industry and the moment Costa went to the dark side, I knew that I was going to bail. Gave one group buy a shot under Luxottica and said never again. Costa cared about their brand and did what they needed to grow the brand. The brand is a dollar figure for Lux and they care more about bottom line than tending the brand image. Yes, tending the brand image is still part of what they do, but it's not the priority it once was.

I sold Costa because I knew that they were better than average on customer service and that I could go to bat for a customer if I needed to (it happened several times). Once Lux bought them out, I said screw it. I'm out.

I've been putting Revant's blue polarized lenses into Costas and really like them.

The rubber ear piece has come off of my Costas (again)....am I likely to have trouble getting Costa to repair as a warranty? They did so without hesitation the first time.

EyeGuy certainly helped me stand up to Costa on a claim - I was part of his first group buy and my original pair snapped in two when my kid gave me a hug on day 5 of having them. I was less than impressed with the quality at that point and EyeGuy muscled them into replacing.

Broke frames - prescription 580G lenses are fine.

They will not sell frames alone without lenses. So in order to use the lenses, I have to buy a complete new pair and then sub out the lenses. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Should be able to send the whole thing in and then only pay for the frame. They don't sell frame only due to people ( like i used to do) going rogue and putting their own lenses in

Funny enough, they told me that wasn't an option. I could mail them in, but then would still have to pay full price for a new set of sunglasses. Highly annoying. Maybe I got a bad rep. I'll try again.

Just swapped my plastic lenses with glass one from an old broken pair i had laying around for years using the technique below. Couldnt believe how easy it was.
