I'm going on a remote hunt Saturday and my hunting partner shared his hack with me of using trekking poles as a rifle rest. We'll be out over tall grassy terrain and my bipod will be useless unless I get lucky. I would typically use my external frame pack a rifle mount which can be cumbersome due to the weight/bulk. We'll already have trekking poles with us because of the terrain. Supposedly someone makes clips to aide with this but a simple loop of paracord or a zip tie will do the trick. I enjoy simple things like this that utilize what I already had on me.

The guy in the link below uses a zip tie and a loop of paracord to keep his poles from kicking out too far. I think that's overly complicated unless he's on rock. It should be stable with just a tie linking the poles as long as you're on dirt and can embed the points in (that's what she said).

Just a good gun strap will do. Didn't you see Joe Kidd take down Olin Mingo? Actually I'm sure those sticks would help a lot.

Same. I have the bipod. I actually use it in the stand when hunting with small kids. I will put the rifle stock in position on the window sandbag and then use the shooting stick for the butt stock. I sit to the right of the kid and kind of line it up left handed. It creates a stable platform. The kid can then make the minor adjustments and does the shooting on their own. It has worked well. My son started killing deer at nine and has hit everyone dead solid perfect using this method. Having the bipod stabilize the butt of the gun is a game changer.

I sometimes use it when hunting if I have time. It's damn near like shooting off a shooting bench.

Bring cash.

If you're hunting near private land and you see a very, very good animal of which you have a tag for…be ready to knock on a door and make an offer.

It's made a few hunts for me…
