Anyone got a good rec for a headlamp?

Need a new one to wear around the lease during deer season and figured I'd check here before randomly choosing one off Amazon.

Academy has a couple good options in 20 dollar range. Of course theres 200 dollar flamethrowers in the market too, but ive had good luck with Academy cheapies like black diamond, energizer, etc. I rarely use a handheld flashlight at all anymore. Headlamp 100% for all needs.

You didn't give a price range or lumen value so I will throw out the one I have now:

https://www.amazon.com/Fenix-HM65R-Rechargeable-Headlamp-Included/dp/B07TW7YCG6/

Fenix FX-HM65R

I wanted a QBeam on my forehead without the secondary battery pack. I would buy this thing again in a heartbeat.

I paint with it (old eyes)
I do car work with it
I hunt with it
I backpack with it

It's comfortable and the battery is rechargeable but you can also buy 2 CR123A disposable batteries as well.

Texas Torch. Aggie. owned I think. Someone mentioned it in a post a year or so ago. That sucker will light up the night. Uses a single rechargeable battery

I actually prefer a light that doesn't have a million lumens to not mess with my natural night vision as much.

The red or green light on this Black Diamond one is surprisingly adequate, even with no moon. I walk the 1/2 mile to the stand every morning and just use that. I do have a brighter one but found myself not liking it as much. 400 lumens is more than enough for what you probably need. Even the low setting of 200 is probably fine.

I also have a variable the thrunite light that cycles from .04 lumens up to 120.

Rarely find myself reaching for the super powerful ones, but been impressed with both thrunite and nitecore.

I've gone through several headlamps with the expensive, odd-ball rechargeable batteries. The batteries are expensive to replace and they don't last that long, or I end up losing the charger or forget to charge before the hunt. I got tired of messing with them so I go with head lights that use good ol' AAA batteries. Makes life much simpler.

check out nitecore headlamps. wide range in pricing and the company often has holiday deals. quick shipping. I've had the HC35 for a year and I'm amazed how powerful it can be and subtle it can be in the 5 settings. I will let you make sure you don't step on dog poo at night or blast light for a wide decoy spread.

I also use and prefer a Nitecore, though it's the NU20. Very small and compact but plenty bright. It has a built in rechargeable battery.

I agree with this. I've basically stopped using any rechargeable lights. Too easy to pop in new batteries and I generally have them around unlike the charging cables.

I agree. Bright light when you need it and lower light when you don't. Holds a charge for a long time as well.

I looked at the TxTorches ones but saw some lackluster reviews. They were also out of stock on everything when I wanted to buy, so I went with a Black Diamond Spot 350. Very happy with it, and I also like the fact that I can keep spare AAAs in my packpack in the event it goes dead when I'm out on the mountain.

Yep. But I use Amazons house brand rechargeable AAA & AAs. For lights, TV remotes, kids toys, you name it. We plow through batteries at the casa.

I have the zebralight H600 and love it. its about the size of a 2x scaled up AA battery so it works great to always have in my pocket, and then with the headband it comes with it quickly turns into my headlamp when i need one. The light is also great. it has 6 brightness settings with the lowest being dimmer than my phone screen on its dimmest setting, and the brightest being near daylight (but it quickly thermally regulates on the max brightness setting).
