How long do you want to ignore this user?
So I randomly put down some corn and threw up a camera in an area and I'm seeing some really nice deer. I cut it all back a few weeks back and threw up a small tripod stand.

I'm planning do my fall plots in the next few weeks at other spots around the lease but I'm hesitant to plow and tear up and plant in this new spot so close to the season.

Do any of those no plow mixes work worth a shlt? Should I just ahead and plow and plant?

And rule #1

Plow and plant. Need to break up the ground and grass/weeds anyway.

If you don't have the proper equipment to spray the present vegetation and plant the seed in the soil, you are pretty much pissing in the wind. I helped with hundreds of acres of no till plots over the years, and those two things are essential.

Bottom line, does no till work, yes. You can't plant just anything though. Cereal rye (not ryegrass) is a great option. Best thing to do is spray, then wait 2 weeks and come back and broadcast, then mow. Do this a few days before rain in the forecast (if no rain then wait or don't do it at all). If you can't do two trips, you can broadcast and then spray without the mowing, but you need knee high cover in the field already or your seeds will be toast before the rain gets to them.

The thatch from what you mow will provide cover from birds and acts like soil on top of your seed.

Do 100 lbs per acre of cereal rye and 6-10 lbs per acre of crimson clover. Rye will grow in your truck bed if it gets a little water

I have 5 acres I fart around with for goats. What I do is shred, till, spread seed, cover with a chain or cattle panel and pray hard for rain. If you don't cover it will probably not germinate. Most seed require 1/4" to 1" of soil coverage.

Mix rye grass seed with a starter fertilizer and spread it. A couple weeks after a rain you will be surprised.

Talked to a guy at work that does hydroseeding on the side. He mentioned that he's done several food plots for people. Might be another option if there's someone around you that does this. Definitely don't have to do hydroseeding, but there's some advantages to it as well.
