You have pretty good chance of seeing one. There are some big ones in there.

Front and center in the camping loop near the fishing pier everyday.

Can contest that there are plenty of them there. Had one eat a bass I had on the line at night on the dock.

Other good areas to spot alligators, in case you happen to be nearby:

Brazos Bend S.P.
Sea Rim S.P.
Brazoria N.W.R.
San Bernard N.W.R.
Anahuac N.W.R.

Was grabbing a nice bass and gator launched from under the fishing pier and stole it from me. About pissed myself.

They are around.

And add in to that the lake around the rookery at Houston Audubon's property on High Island. Highest gator density I have ever seen.

Sheldon Reservoir is loaded with them.

My son with a gator in Huntsville State Park. Don't know if I'd personally get in a canoe or anything.

You'll probably see one at Huntsville, but if you just really want to see a wild alligator go to brazos bend. You'll probably see a dozen

Choke Canyon at Three Rivers has a bunch. I believe the ranger said they can use satellite imagery and guesstimate about 2000.

They had an interpretive presentation for our Cub Scouts where they laid out an alligator hide of one taken in the park. They laid it on two of those white plastic tables placed end to end, and it was hanging off both ends of the tables

Grew up swimming in the Kickapoo Creek area of lake Livingston. Went there to do some fishing in the late 90's and there were gators all over the place. Mostly saw ones in the 6-8' range, but saw one that looked at least 10'.

Needless to say. my friends and I did NOT go swimming for old times' sake. But the beer was good.

Was coming here to post this and got a chuckle when I saw the post about Kickapoo Creek. My wife's grandparents have a little cabin up off Kickapoo and this guy is a regular. Sh*t quality picture but he's got a slide up off the main creek and you can pretty much find him any time you're in the area. He's got to be in the 12' range - big enough to make you second guess if you should be motoring up the creek or not.

These are screenshots from the video I got of him sliding off his perch when we rolled up.

Kayaking in HSP you can paddle to about 20-25 feet up to most of them before they submerge. They aren't interested in eating something as big as a kayak+paddler. They want ducks and fish and rodents.

I see 2-3 everytime I've been there.

Ray Charles reported seeing 16 at Huntsville State Park on his last visit before passing away.

Brazos Bend last week was lacking. Its too damn hit right now, they are posted up in the water staying cool. If you can, wait til weather cools off and they come out on the trails/banks to warm in the sun

At Anahuac NWR you can see plenty without ever getting out of your car. Just drive the Shoveler Pond loop.

Was the road and parking lot to the Elm lake/walking trail still closed? That loop is a guarantee to see lots of big gators, some right along the trail
