About to sod the back yard with Zoysia. All of the old grass was removed several weeks ago. Now there is Johnson grass and nutsedge growing in the fresh dirt. Would it be stupid to spray the entire yard with roundup to kill it all, wait a week, and then sod the yard with Zoysia?

Yes. Roundup will kill the grasses but not the nutsedge. Roundup mixed with Sedge Hammer will kill both. I'd use a 4 percent solution of the roundup to get a fast kill. Read the label on both to get the mixing order and to understand the residual for sedge hammer which kills other weeds also.

Ideally October would be best to plant new sod compared to now but if you can keep it wet August will work also.
