We are looking for options for quick access safes to stage around the house. I had those gun vault speed vaults but now they fail to open without the key.

I use a metal banker's box with 3# combination. May not be exactly what you're looking for but also might be a cheaper solution for your "option B or C" that you don't need to access as fast.

Just a thought there.

Costco has one on their website that I am thinking about trying. First Alert 5200 for like $60. Anybody have one and care to comment on it? I have a stack on fingerprint only and it sucks ass.

Look for anything with a simplex lock. There are a few brands such as stealth that you can find on Amazon.

I'm sure you've already done this for your GV safes, but did you try a battery swap? Mine need batteries changed around once a year. Been happy w mine for many years. Surprised you're having problems w them.

Check out V-line, they have several different models. They are mechanical, so no batteries or electronics to fail. Totally reliable, I have had a couple of different models now for about 2 decades and never once failed to open.

V-line also uses the simplex lock.

I wanted a GV but had $100 AMEX offer to Home Depot that was expiring so got a Sentry Safe from there. I've been happy with it so far, granted I've had it less than a year. It has a fingerprint, electric combo keys, or key to open.

Recommend these HIGHLY. Rugged design, mechanical lock. I don't trust electronic locks, and a lot of those GunVault and similar designs aren't that secure (there was a youtube of a guy that showed his toddler how to drop it in the right way to get it to open)

I like my V-like a lot. Simple locking system that isn't reliant on electricity/biometrics/a key.

I have fort knox gun safe that holds a CZ Shadow and Sig 938 and 4 extra mags for each. I like it a lot, easy and quick to open with one hand, even with no light.

I also have a Stopbox that holds another 938. I hate it. By the time I get the Stopbox open, well, I probably could have just gone to the other side of the house and opened the Fort Knox.

Interesting strategy, you're not at all concerned with arming the enemy?
