Hello all, may be a Home Improvement topic but figured I'd start here. We are currently in the process of getting our water tested several times at our new well where we are building a home. So far the consensus is very hard water and potentially bacteria present. We've also gotten a high iron reading and a low iron reading. We shocked the well a couple weeks ago and will be re-testing for bacteria and have also been letting the well pump run often.

Does anyone have experience with specific water treatment manufacturers or systems for well water? Based on our results we are most concerned with the hardness and appliance preservation as well as potential bacteria issue.

Most major brands are going to be good. I have an Aquasana Rhino unit and am pleased. Would recommend their Simply Soft Softener, but that is dependent on how hard your water actually is.

My water is hard (230) and high in TDS. The Rhino filter takes care of copper, lead, iron, bacteria, etc. - and they make a well version with a UV filter on it as well that you could look at.

The softener works, but it didn't last as long as I'd like and I'd recommend a true water softener in lieu if your water is really hard.

Edit - got me to looking, since my water softener/conditioner isn't working. Bought an AO Smith no salt descaler/conditioner to replace mine. Will let you know, but it gets really good reviews.

Rhino Filter

We are located in Grandview also. We've installed a water softener (Hague is the brand name) and a chlorinator to deal with iron reducing bacteria. We had several water treatment companies quote on different treatment options but ultimately went with JBC Water Treatment. They've been really good to work with.
