I've never bought a golf cart before, but am looking at buying an EZ GO that will be in the $14,500 MSRP range. I was wondering if dealers come off of MSRP on golf carts at all, or is MSRP the price they typically get. TIA for any advice on how to get the best deal.

Look at Icon carts. Relatively new, but every review I've seen online say that they're superior to the Yamahas and EZ Gos.

No skin in the game. I just did a bunch of research last year when I was looking at buying one. Found several golf forums where they were discussed and everything was positive.

I've got one in Belton that I'm looking to sell.

I'm actually looking for a 6 seater just to use to ride around the neighborhood with the grandkids. Would prefer a gas powered cart but could get by with battery power.

That price seems insane for a golf cart. Just my 2

If you aren't going hunting the quietness of electric sure is nice.

I think that's for the 6 seater version.

I bought one last year (brand new). Every place I called gave me the price, there wasn't room for negotiation although I did shop around until I found the cart for the the price I was willing to pay. Not everyone has the same price. There are many different models and add ons that can cause the price to be different. We went with a gas EZGo Express S4 (4 seater) and love it. We just use it around the neighborhood as well.

I've got a souped up electric golf cart, so I tend to talk with my dealer/builder of more often than most, his price for used carts has gone from about $2,500 to around $5000 for a normal electric two-seater. Makes them hard to flip.

Why is being not so quiet good for hunting?

It is a big advantage but not everyone has the means to charge a cart at camp and a cart charger can pull some decent amps, factory carts with bigger wheels and tires won't have long run times in off road situations. For most it is easier to just use gas. My electric cart has an aftermarket controller and an AC motor and I can routinely put 25 miles on it with no issues and no need to recharge, it wasn't cheap but I got the cart used for free so dumping $6k to get a cart that wouldn't need to recharge over a weekend and do 25+ mph was an easy choice.

As a hunter, the quietness of an electric is what I want

Yeah - going for a six seater adds a fair amount. The one I was looking at on the EZ-Go wesite was pretty basic and still had the $14,500 MSRP as did similar configurations for a Club Car or Yamaha. That's 4 times what my first new car cost, but then I am an Old Ag.

I priced some 6 seat gas EZ GO's in Port Aransas and they were 17,000ish. Like PA needs another golf cart on Alister....

$14.5 is crazy, even for a 6 seater. Go to or call Ennis Golf carts in Liberty Hill. Get an electric AC version. Plenty of power. They have a lot of these for MUCH less than $14k.

Your negotiation room on new carts will be on dealer add-ons, stereo, wheels, dash, motor/controller, etc. These are high margin items.

Go to your local Golf Course and find out who your local Textron Rep is. Find out where they sell their off-lease carts. Get a Cushman 72V or the newer Li battery electrics.
The Cushman 72V would last me 3 days of driving around a golf course for maintenance purposes and can go around 18 or 19mph.

Thanks - I figured there was probably not much room for negotiation on the base price.

Again, check out Ennis. I got mine there. Great experience. They had a bunch of 6 seaters. Really nice and much less than $14k. The AC motors have plenty of power so you don't need to go gas.

This is a standard 2 seater with 2 rear facing seats on the back. EZ-GO, waiting to get info from my brother on year model, pictures, battery age.
