How long do you want to ignore this user?
Buying a home on about 2 acres and need to bite the bullet and start mowing my own lawn. Leaning towards the John Deere Z355R but looking for any input!! Read tons of reviews and still not sure which way I want to go. What do y'all think? Brand, size, etc.

I'd go with a z500 series with the Kawasaki engine.

Just bought a hustler raptor. Only 3 hours on it but like it so far. Really fast and comfortable.

Hustler. They invented the zero turn.

For only two acres, I'd look at the Scag Patriot.

I've been really happy with my Gravely HD48.

This, skip the 300 series and go with 500 series I have been very happy with my Z540M with a kawasaki engine only thing I wish I had bought was a 54" instead of the 48".

I have the JD 355R for 1.5 acres and I love it. Plenty of power and plenty of fuel on board.

just purchased the 42" cub cadet.......will let you know how i like it in 3-4 days

my BIL's father has one and has about 7 acres around the house he keeps cleaned. He said he'd pay double for a zero turn just b/c he knows how much less weed-eating he has to do.

What does a quality dealer near you carry? That is where I would start - there are many good brands - Hustler, Scag, Exmark, Ferris etc.

Don't buy from a big box store - you'll be 100th in line if you ever need service.

I've got a Bush Hog 52" for my 2 acres. I've been happy with it and almost zero problems in about 8 years

I've had a scag tiger cub for 14 years so I'd have to recommend that

Bad Boy and no complaints. I have a 60" cutting width which is great for pasture... tough around the house... so keep deck size in mind

I know a few months back lots of zero percent finance options on multiple brands.. keep an eye out

Just went through this and bought a 52" scag liberty.... was debating between it and raptor. Both were with same dealer and they recommended the scag

I got a 22 inch Toro you can have for free. I'll bring it to lunch on Sunday...

Arians or Gravely 52". If I wanted to spend a little more would have gone with an Exmark.

The local guy that does maintenance on ZTRs said that he sees more Hustlers to fix compared to all others.

For 2 acres I would definitely go with a thicker welded deck vs a stamped deck. Also wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 52".

Maybe you should sell me the house. Sounds like to much mowing for you!!!!

My advice is to get something you can drive and steer with one hand.

We just bought 2 acres in November. I picked up the Gravely ZTHD 52" with the Kawasaki F691 engine in it. Curving around trees galore, I can cut the yard in about an hour 10 or so.

Great cut, very comfortable ride, mower certainly moves.

Bringing this back for one question. Headed to look at a 48 inch Liberty Z this week but curious about thoughts on operator height. Unit is very compact, I am not. Any concern for a 6'2", 240 lbs dude sitting and operating comfortably.

My FIL runs a Liberty Z and it has plenty of leg and seat room for me (6'2" 210 lbs). Some extra lbs shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the info, that's perfect. I used to weigh 210, for like a week back in 1992. Dammit.

I am 6,1 240.. ended up going with the 52 inch Scag liberty Z. Runs great! I actually mowed last time with a 30 pound kid in my lap and the machine didn't flinch.

Picked up the Liberty Z today and can confirm plenty of legroom. Actually a touch more than the hustler XDX which was my other option. Sweet little machine.
