Looking for recommendations for a shuttle that will take my son and his dad from MIA to Sea Base for the land-based SCUBA adventure. It may end up being just the two of them (they may not be with the rest of the Troop), so we don't need a service that charges a flat fee for multiple passengers. We need something affordable for just the two of them.

Haha...no. Sea Base is a real thing...one of the three BSA high adventure camps.

I know a few scout leaders post here. I was hoping someone had used a service that they could recommend. Trying to avoid renting a car.

I know how to use google. I've also looked at the Sea Base participants guide. The info is very generic.

I've already been to the Keys Shuttle website. That's why I specifically asked about a service that works for individuals rather than groups. Key Shuttle wants $300 each way but that's for up to 14 passengers. I can't get a price for an individual shuttle because that part of their website isn't working properly. That airport shuttle link you gave doesn't work for our dates, either. It says nothing is available when I search.

I was hoping someone here had a specific recommendation with a service they have actually used.

I wasn't trying to be a smartass. If it were me, I'd give each place a call to get more details. That is what I do when the website info is generic. I know I use a shuttle out of Nashville when I lived in Chattanooga to go to and from the airport. It was about $40. I'd assume they'd have something similar.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Thanks, I appreciate it. We will probably end up having to call. I just figured I'd post here on the off chance someone had actually used a specific service.

I'm just trying to save time. I'm not even going, but I'm the one who's paying for the plane ticket. No one who is going seems to be in a hurry to get any of these logistics planned, but I don't want to end up paying more for the plane ticket because people procrastinated.

Uber

I haven't used Uber since the world shut down. I didn't even know if it would be an option. Guess it would be, if we can't find something else.

For 87 miles, it'd probably be $100.

But, it's a private trip then.

Sea Base is one of my favorite memories of my time of a scout. My father and I enjoyed it so much we went twice, both times renting a car from the airport and driving down.

That's cheaper than I expected.

Trying not to rent a car because a quick and dirty search quoted the cheapest rate as $550+. That's a lot to spend if the car is going to sit for a week.

My son and I did SeaBase, but our trek was the one closer to Key West, at Brinton Environmental Center.

We did the out island adventure where we had to canoe to Munson island. It was a lot of fun.

The land based SCUBA is in Islamorada, which is just as far from Miami as it is from Key West.

I guess that's good, though, because it's easier and cheaper to get to Miami by air than it is to get to Key West.

I took a large group and we did one-way rentals between the Miami airport and one of the Keys islands just past where Seabase is. Trick is getting a ride back from the rental car facility on that other island to Seabase before your trek then another ride back to island rental car company after your trek to pick up your 2nd one-way rental back to Miami. But, that eliminates the need for a week (or more) long rental that just sits there.

It can be done and worked out to be much less expensive than all other options we were able to find.

Good luck!

That's an option that probably wouldn't have even crossed my mind because one-way rentals are usually so expensive. Thanks!

We did Seabase, Boundary Waters, and Philmont. I loved all 3 of those places. Seabase for me was best because I enjoy the saltwater more than anywhere else on Earth. Dad and I were already certified when we went, so they let us take out a boat and dive the reef daily while our guys did C dives
