I am going to be in Washington state/Spokane area around labor day weekend. I am looking for recommendations on places to stay and (more importantly) guides and areas for fly fishing. Has anyone ever fished this area? I am open to driving in to Idaho as well if that seems to be the better option for fishing. I am a decently experienced fly-fisherman but I have never been up to that part of the country. Any recommendations are much appreciated!

The general area around Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint, Idaho should be covered up with great spots, and it's a beautiful area. I don't have specific recommendations, but is very looking there.

I'll just say that Snoqualmie Pass/River looks amazing, but wet wading it is a *****. Only time I've ever had to quit wading. And I was there mid-summer. Snowmelt water is no joke.

Never been there but I am aching to fish Icicle Creek near Leavenworth. Just like the name.

Check out castaway fly shop in coeur d alene ... they will know where to take you.

St Joe River one of my favorites ... western slope cut throats.

Lots of places to go.

These are from the Saint Maries river a couple of years ago. The cutts are a lot of fun and readily take dries. The Saint Joe's is good as well. A little further drive is Kelly creek off the North Fork of the Clearwater.

I haven't fished around Spokane itself, but there's good fishing in the Coeur d'Alene River and around St. Regis, and then you've also got the Kootenai in the Idaho panhandle. I know there's a bunch of people that fish in Spokane proper, but figured it's probably more of a convenience. There's a couple of fly shops in Spokane, I'd call one of them and see what they recommend.
