Link to Botach

Is this sale price in anticipation of something?
Maybe cleaning out inventory?

If implying they're somehow going to become illegal in the near future, generally that means they get to charge more and still watch them fly off the shelves.

Maybe clearing out inventory for whatever's next.

I agree.
I guess I was thinking they wanted to get anything they could as fast as they could.

Anybody done one of these? I looked them over pretty hard not too long ago. Thought it would be fun to do with my kids.

Tips on the rest of the parts?

I did one. The 19 version. It was fun in the same way building an AR was and about the same difficulty level. I used the whole kit from P80 including the slide, barrel, and all the parts. Tons of YouTube videos to help if you get stuck too. I'll probably switch out the trigger eventually but it works ok now and my kit came with a curved or flat bow option

Not hard at all. Can be completed in an hour or two with experience.
Brownells & eBay had the most to choose from before COVID.

Not to take away from the Glock portion of this thread, but as anyone done a 80% 1911? If so who did you go with and were you happy w/ the results?

Do you happen to have a link for the full kit?

I bought mine at a local gun store. They don't sell the full kit online anymore I don't think. You can buy the lower with the jig, frame parts, and bits, the slide and barrel together, and then you need a lower parts kit with trigger. I sourced the mode numbers on the P80 website and bought them at a store in NW Houston.

This is what I bought, but had to buy it in stages:

I'm interested in this too. Looks fun.

That is exactly the kit that got P80 raided by ATF. So ya. I wouldn't expect to see them online soon.

But you didn't buy directly from them... so no knock on the door yet???

I have looked at 1911 kits... looking leads to touching....

I didn't buy the kit. I sourced all the parts separately. But no, no door knockers yet. I also did a Form 1 suppressor so I follow the laws but like building stuff myself. If the list exists I'm sure I'm already on it.

I've built a Glock 32 and have a 17 and 19 ready to build. Really cool, but I wouldn't get into it expecting to save money versus buying a factory Gen 3 gun.

I really like rock slides for upper parts. You can sometimes get their uppers cheaper on gunbroker. Call them about barrels if you need them. I paid $60 for a threaded .40 cal barrel for example.

Did a G26 a few years back, bought on sale from Midway. It was not hard at all. It's a shooter and has run like a glock is supposed to. I want to say all in by watching for sales on parts I have like $360 into it.

For clarification, I'm not saying anyone broke any laws. It seems atf retroactively decided they didn't like the kit form and chased down purchasers. I misunderstood and thought you had purchased that whole kit from a retailer.

Check out 1911builders.com for the hotness.

Oh I gotcha. I didn't see the part about them tracking down purchasers. I had to buy from several places once I figured out who had what and what to buy.

Thanks for the lead on 1911 stuff. I'll check it out.
