Looking at putting in an outdoor kitchen on my back patio. Any recommendations for contractors/companies in the Houston area?

Texas Custom Patios was great. They really stuck to their contract and didn't go over. It came in higher than the other bids but it was clear they were going to kill us on add ons.

I'm an advocate for a pass-through over an outdoor kitchen in most cases. Stocking 2 kitchens, fighting the flies, doubling the clean up, and cooking in the soup that is Houston air seems like a lot more hassle than sliding things in/out across a shelf.

Rob Douglass with Texas Custom Patio is a friend. They definitely won't be the cheapest. But they do quality work and stand behind it.

Texas Patio Pros was one of the cheapest (I got several quotes) and did a great job. Went a little above and beyond the original scope (finished out some plumbing things I'd started myself) for no additional cost. Definitely worth a call.

ETA: I did my own "design" so I essentially just gave him a plan to execute.

Living Improvements did ours and they were great to work with.

Josh does a great job. He does a lot of work for several Houston Texans. Tell him Winmck referred you and said a 20% discount was in order

What did you use to do your own design? I'm just about to start one for our patio. Simple graph paper and a pencil or an online website? Appreciate the feedback, I need to do an L similar to your set-up.

Microsoft Visio. Very basic but essentially to scale (despite my disclaimer). Easy way to send out to 3-4 companies for quotes. I did the research for cutouts and sourced the appliances myself.

You can probably get a free trial or subscription for a month for relatively cheap. Or if you have some ideas you can jot down and do a rough sketch on paper, I could certainly help draw it up and PDF. Wouldn't take long at all with the dims and information.

ETA: I posted a full thread on my construction process at the link below, if it helps anyone:

We are the only true one stop shop in Houston and Aggie owned. Would love to give you a quote and have you in our grill store/showroom.

Texas Custom is a good company but they are going to push you into RCS primarily because they only buy from one vendor. We carry over 10 different grill lines and we have them on display so you can come in to touch and feel. We cook every Saturday so stop in and grab a grilled treat.

Hope to see you soon. You can fill out the contact form to get a design appt.
