With the abundance of the Axis deer mostly will we ever see large populations expand to East Texas? Are exotic deer having any unintended consequences to the states eco system?

An animal that tastes better than whitetail, has no hunting restrictions, and looks great on the wall / couch? I'm relatively confident low-fence boys in east Texas won't let those populations get out of hand.
Can you drop a pin and let us know where, tia.BQ_90 said:
I know in South CS there are few that are free ranging. But they got out and don't drift to where hunters would dispatch them.
Absolutely not! They are heavy competitors with white tail for forbs and quality browse, with the ability to switch to grass as needed.BQ_90 said:
thought axis deer where more grazers than browsers? My guess is they won't want to migrate to East Texas.

Ok didn't know, there aren't that many loose in ETX, I've seen some in height fence places only. If they get, out, they get deadB-1 83 said:Absolutely not! They are heavy competitors with white tail for forbs and quality browse, with the ability to switch to grass as needed.BQ_90 said:

We have hundreds of free range in the hill country and they love our fertilized coastal fields. Here is one I shot.

That looks like a whitetail with spots. Maybe I missed the joke.
