How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm in the Houston area and have a form 1 pending currently for a "solvent trap". I got the 9" 7075 aluminum with SS K cups from Armory Den. Does anyone have recommendations of a shop to do the engraving once I get the approval? They don't offer a drill jig so I may put it on my drill press, but am thinking about having a machine shop drill it out after approval as well. If there are any recommendations for this as well I'm all ears. Thanks!

I recently used Red Bolt lasers off of North Shepherd. They range about $70-$80 depending on engraving location. The engraving looks factory on my AR lower.

I'm interested to hear more on this.

I have engraving lasers at work but the "requirement" from ATF is the following, "be to a minimum depth of .003 inch and in a print size no smaller than 1/16 inch"

I do not know how to guarantee the depth level of performance from my equipment.

A normal sheet if paper is .004" thick.

Sounds like a good reason to justify a new lathe for the garage shop.... good luck

I'm hoping it doesn't cost enough to justify getting a new lathe...but that would be a good excuse. Thanks for the recommendations so far. I'm still "in process" with ATF but will let y'all know what I end up doing.

Used the same place a couple months ago. No issues. Friendly service.

I sent mine to Tar Heel State Firearms. I think it was $30.

I have a lathe and will drill it for you, I am south of Houston near Angleton. No charge, just bring some beer and good conversation.

Thanks Schmellba, I appreciate it. I found a guy who has made jigs for many of the various kits so I'm going to see if he has something for mine. Either way I'll be in touch once I get the ok from Uncle Sam.
