My dog is 85 pounds and showing no symptoms. Just took him on a two mile walk.

I accidentally knocked the bottle of his apoquel pills into his drinking water last night. This morning, about four hours ago, we noticed the pills dissolved into the water and he drank a few drinks out of it before we noticed.

As a precaution I called the poison control line but no one answered.

It was about 27 of his daily apoquel pills dissolved into a gallon sized bowl of water (with the vertical jug)

Should I be worried or take him to the emergency clinic?

How much water did he ingest? It is likely that he got some extra medicine but, while the pills themselves dissolved, solutions almost always settle out when not agitated or mixed; so most likely before he started drinking out of the bowl, the medicine was settled at the bottom, so he probably didn't get 27x his normal dose.

The safety studies they gave 5x the maximum dose twice a day for something like 6 weeks, so unless you're dog drank it all it probably is within that range. Did you call animal poison control(they should answer 247) or the manufacturer (Zoetis)?

Thanks both. I did call but no one answered after 15 min or so. Without symptoms I chose to monitor him. He's acting normal for now. I appreciate the wisdom.

FYI , if you ever need a dog to throw up give it some hydrogen peroxide and get outside!!!

Just make sure the hydrogen peroxide hasn't been opened or is recent

My 7 pound dog takes half a pill a day and took 1 2x a day for a week. Likely he will be ok, just monitor.
