Taking a buddy to shoot his first deer this weekend, and I'm trying to figure out where he should take it after the fact to be processed!
We're both college students so keep price in mind!

Not too sure how they compare on price but I'm a fan of Slovacek's Wild Game Processing in Snook.

Usually use Readfields in Bryan, but they weren't taking anymore deer in November when we needed it, not sure if they are caught up now or not.

We ended up using Texas Meat Market near downtown Bryan. They did a great job...good turnaround time, good price, hamburger and pan sausage has been good.

I used slovacheks since the 70s. I quit using them a few years ago when I found out they were batching the meat. I don't want my stuff mixed with people who blow out shoulders and gut shoot. Haven't found anyone one as good but oh well. I head or neck shoot everything and bone all my meat out. I don't want other crap mixed with mine in processing. I found out when there was bone chips in the meat

Slovocek's in Snook. Awesome sausage.

Cannot recommend enough.
We may not always get what we want. We may not always get what we need. Just so we don't get what we deserve.

Slovaceks doesn't give you your deer back if that makes a difference.

I took two to Readfields in Bryan this season. No complaints. Probably on the higher end of cost but they do it right and give you your deer back.

I've also used Broken Tine Processing in Snook and liked everything he did.

Ed's butcher block is back open under Texas Meat Market. Ed passed away last year so they weren't doing deer last year. The daughter is running it under the new name but same recipe that Ed used. Hands down the best pan and link sausage I've ever had. And you get your deer back. Not a mix of other peoples deer.

This is the second time I have seen this about two different processors. Do they admit to that or is that an assumption??

They'll tell you if you ask. I'm not sure they mention it otherwise. (I found out after the fact when I took a deer there.)

Where are you shooting? If you're further south, I'm a big fan of Arnold's in Hempstead.

We'll be down near laredo. Live in College Station. Like I said, it will be his first deer so I want him to enjoy the whole experience!

I just took a doe and a pig to Arnold's based on this and some earlier texags. Estimated wait time two weeks. Smelled great and way more selections than B&W meat market on shepherd which is my close by option.
