I understand that it is undesirable for subsonic hog hunting beyond 50 yards, but the spot I will be is certain for this short range and I'd like to keep the noise down for a few reasons.

Are there any subsonic factory loads that have decent experience with most midsized hogs at close range?

At 50 yards - go for a headshot.
Have enough confidence in your rifle/scope and shooting ability to hit a 3 inch circle at 50 yards?

I can attest that a 30 caliber 208 grain A-Max going 1,000 FPS will instantly kill a 235# hog at 100 yards if you put the bullet in its ear.... Take your time and pick your shot.

Thanks, and sorry I should have clarified. I'm in scenarios where I likely will have multiple targets and moving after I make the first kill and getting such placement is difficult after the first shot.

Either trap them or just shoot one at a time

You can make follow up shots on the secondaries by aiming for the nose but the worst case scenario is you hit them in the guts or ham and they die somewhere else.

Maybe try some buckshot in a semi auto

If you really are concerned about noise just earhole one and only take a secondary on pigs that stop

I run Hornady Subx and have had pretty good luck. It is all about shot placement as stated above. I typically only shoot it out of a suppressed Ruger American Ranch and am amazed on how quiet it is.

The Hornady subs have been great for me. I have killed multiple deer under 100. Killed several rams and a fallow. It's the best performer I have found yet in the sub category. My 6 year old shot a nice buck with them last year at 75 yards. He just shot vitals and the buck piled up 15 yards away. I shoot upper neck and it's lights out.

Of course everything comes down to accuracy and shot placement.

I have some 260gr soft points from Atomic that came from EyeGuy, I'm excited to try those out.

Finding any is the hard part

Lower neck just behind the jowl. I have never had one go more that 3 feet with that placement. Usually around 125 yard shot

The Sub-x from Hornady is good...the sig Sauer 205gr is better...the amax doesn't expand so I quit using them for hunting and I think I have 3 boxes left so I just use them to check zero or test something... in the face is where to shoot them

It seems the Hornady Sub-X keep coming up as the best option for subsonic hog shots. The Hornady Amax are slightly less expensive (they all are ridiculous but that's an argument for another thread). The only sub Sigs I can find are the 220gr.
