Hunters in that area...when do you think the rut is?

According to the interwebs/ hunting forums....the rut is every single weekend from Sept until the end of season. Any 4pt at the feeder the same time as a doe, is the rut...hard rut.....full rut....

Realistically though, mid-late Nov & Mid-late Dec...repeat until the doe gets bred.

according to most Biologist the Rut occurs around the 25th of November.

I am by no means as experienced as a lot of other on here, but in my experience the rut generally starts after the first hard cold snap in November.

If you miss the first rut, there is a high likelihood of a second rut as well, depending on the deer population. (unbred does will likely go into estrus again, and re-trigger some of the same behavior in the bucks), albeit with less intensity.

You could call the Fort and ask if they have seen any rut behavior. Their population is somewhat isolated, but it could be a good indicator.

Brackettville rut starts Dec 10.

Used to play in an annual golf tournament at the Fort. Did a lot of rutting west of there around the Corona club area. The rut was always on there around spring break. Too bad that is not somewhere you can "hunt" anymore!

anyone out there have a weekend update?

About 20 min north of Brackettville I'd say it's starting. Saw several bucks dogging does mid morning yesterday.

12/3-12/10 were my magic days there for 8 years
