2 Burner Tank Top Propane Heater: One Side Won't Stay Lit

I have a 2 burner tank top propane heater that I have had a couple of years now and it has been great on the covered part of the patio when out there watching TV, cigars, grilling etc.

A few weeks ago, I fired it up and after running a few minutes went inside to grab a beer and cigar. Came back out and one side had quit burning. Re lit and it worked fine. Well, went to use it this evening and the same burner would not stay lit at all. Held the "prime" plunger down for well over 30 seconds each time but when released quick or slow, the burner would turn off.

This heater gets used a fair amount during the colder months. The last two years, I re-boxed it at the end of the season and stored it, so it has been taken care of. What is the life expectancy of these things? Has anyone had experience with them that have had an issue like this, and is it repairable, or plan to use it with one until it goes out? It is a Dyna Glo brand it that matters.

Thanks OB.

Maybe replace to hose/fittings. Could be a leak there causing pressure to drop. Investigate further with soapy water at all connections.

I have had to occasionally remove the burner and clean out the little tube that gas flows through with a piece of wire. Some kind of bug gets in there and leaves something similar to spider webs that clogs the flow.

i have one at tailgate that does that. We just zip tied the button down. works fine.

As they get older the pipe that the propane/air flow through will plug up with rust and scale. Take it off the bottle and bang it on something until the rust quits falling out. Air compressor helps too. +1 on the zip-tie method.

First, thank all for the responses.

For anyone that has one of these heaters, I did some investigation on the heater and discovered that the offending side of the dual burner heater had a partially broken wire on the thermocouple. So slight a break that it only showed when I started moving wires checking for good connection. Read some on the interwebs, and this can be also caused by a dirty thermocouple.

Ordered a replacement thermocouple on Amazon. It came in today, and in short order the offending side burner was working like a charm. Those with a zip tie fix might want to look into this repair, as forcing a valve to stay open could continue to release propane when the flame may have been put out by wind, creating an potentially explosive environment.

Do you have a link to the part on Amazon? We have one that is doing the same thing.
Don't know how to post a link, but I will try below.

Thermocouple

Blind hogs and such....

I ordered two, of different "brands". The other comes tomorrow. Did that in case the first one did not work. This may not do it, but it was obvious for me because of the broken wire. It could be the tilt switch, but I'd try the thermocouple first.
