Melissa and I have been working with an architect regarding a covered outdoor patio on the back of our casa in Atlanta. It won't be enclosed, just covered. We want to include a fireplace with a tv over the mantle with a seating area to visit and watch tv. We also want to include an outdoor dining area.

I don't want a full fledge outdoor kitchen, but would like to have a place to build in my Yoder 640, a small sink, maybe a 2 burner gas cook top and a stainless steel cabinet and a couple of drawers.

Do any of you have any experience with this sort of thing and if so, recommendations or pitfalls to avoid?

We cut the kitchenette and got infrared heaters & remote control shades. Not a single regret. We would've done a 'pass through,' before an outdoor kitchen, too. Buying, socking, and cleaning a second kitchen just to do your food prep on the other side of the wall doesn't have a huge appeal to me.

Add more drawers than you think you will need and then add more. Ditch a built in trash can. I have a fairly nice outdoor living and kitchen area, and the only regret I have is thinking that access cabinets would be as good as drawers.
Beyond that lighting is important and ventilation too so smoke readily escapes.

Thanks for the feedback. One thing I've been wondering about are retractable insect screens. When we first moved in here the mosquitos were eating us up outside. Now that it's cooler they've high tailed it. I looked online and saw some companies that install them but don't know if we'll be able to swing it or not. Won't hurt to check it out though.

If you enjoy soaking in a hot tub, put on in with a view of the tv.
