I've been looking to pick up an AR for a while now, but I haven't been able to do so given the current state of the world. I saw a more basic one listed on rainier arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/f-1-firearms-f15-556-rifle-16/) this morning, and I'm curious about what the all-knowing OB thinks of these rifles.

ETA: if there is already thread out there about this topic, please link to it. I've already looked and had no success.

So take what I say with a grain of salt because they are a competitor. I find their builds to be good but over priced and I really do not care for skeletonized are.

If I were in the market for a pre-built AR I would probably at least talk with eyeguy first.

Their skeleton rifles weigh too much for how much they have cut out.

And I can't imagine wanting a rifle like that even for comp. You are just asking for problems.

I appreciate y'all's input. EyeGuy, how much would a budget-friendly build or already built AR run me?

Budget friendly is a loose term. What is budget friendly to me, might not be budget friendly to you and vice versa.

What is budget friendly?

I thought the same about reliability with the skeletonized receivers but a lot of people shoot them and I haven't seen any more problems with them than a normal AR. Of course a lot of those people are sponsored by F1.

Remind me next time and I'll tell you some of the more interesting sponsor benefits they give their shooters beyond just rifles.

My father in law bought each of my boys one. Not terrible, but, I ended upgrading them and as a result ended up having more $ in them than if he had just called EyeGuy/Texian.

I have 2 of them an AR-15 and AR-10. I like both of them. They are good fun shooters don't know how they would hold up under heavy use. I just shoot a maybe 500 rounds a year through mine and they run just fine.

That was my first experience as well with my first two ARs. In the end I sold one of them at a loss and made the other a truck gun. Then I moved to buying a few higher end SIG models. Now I build my own. Throughout my learning process I spent too much $$.

Find a professional like Eyeguy and that will save you a lot of time and money.

If you build, the key is knowing what parts you can buy cheap and what parts to invest more money for higher quality.
