Water Well fracking

Anyone ever done this? Just replaced the pump this year. I used the water for about 3-4 hours of pressure washing and the well is now running dry. Pump is under full parts/labor warranty, but he used sonar and he said the water table in the well is low. It's been a week and it's just not what it was.

I have the option of county water, but I have to run a 1 1/2 pipe 1/4 mile away and I may have to worry about an easement to get it there.

Other option is is frack it. Well is old. The well guy thinks his dad drilled the well. No records on that.

Could also drill a new well, but obviously that is last resort. $$$$$

I'm in Georgia - there is a lot of granite in the area. There are stone outcroppings. I'm 80 feet uphill from a river. I know that doesn't play in to it completely, but it is what it is.

I imagine the absolutley cheapest frac would be $5k, and maybe get closer to 10k. And there is no guarentee it will work.

Yeah, safest bet is for county water. And the well water I have to treat for sulfur and iron.

40+ years in Oil and Gas, let me say, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! The reasons are too numerous to count, bottom line, You Will Not Be Happy with the Result(s)!

frack or jet the well? I've never heard of fracking a water well for ag or personal use.

if the well is deeper and the pump is set above the water table, then the pump needs to be set deeper.

Georgia. In the well log it should have given the production of the well in approximate gallons/minute. Pump should have been sized to that.
The well will only recover as fast as it can produce from that gallon/minute amount. Setting it deeper will not fix your problem as that does not fix the well recovery amount.... it will still run out of water no matter how deep it is set.
Your well guy should be able to bail it and tell you what the GPM is now at.
Perhaps, due to population growth and development, or drought your aquifer has declined or dropped and that has affected your well.
You could install a " Pump Tek" on you pump and put in a large holding tank. The Pump Tek will sense a current change and shut off your pump when it runs out of water. Then it has a timer that you can set as to how long till it will cycle on again. You set that time in accordance to how long it takes your well to recover. You set up a float on your storage tank that will turn the pump off when it is full.
You can make your holding tank any size you want depending on how much water you need. 500 gals- 20,000 gals or more.
I would say fracking a water well is useless. Either the water is in the aquifer or it is not.

My two cents is connect to the utility. Permanent solution.

The pump should have been sized to the GPM of the well at that time. IE it would not have a 5HP pump if it only made 3GPM..... so if you know what HP the pump is you can kinda back your way into original GPM.
Well guy can still bail it or test it for current GPM.

Do not frac a water well. You will most likely hurt the formation and will probably open up yourself to liability from neighboring landowners.

Who did the pump replacement? What size pump/motor? Any measurement done as to how high the water level is(was), due to the artesian pressure?
Possibly lowering the pump and motor might get you a more reliable volume..

yeah. Leaning that way. $2000-3000 for meter. Still waiting on the quote to run the service pipe 1/4 mile to the house.

There is a 5 acre property for sale right at where the meter would be on the main road, but I have a driveway, phone, cable and electrical easement over that 5 acre parcel. I just don't see anything about water. He's never there, so I could probably just run it and he'd never know, but my lawyer brain won't let me do that.

The owner of the 5 acre parcel wants me to buy the 5 acres from him, so I'm reluctant to approach re the water issue right now. He might try to hold it over my head. Can't do easement by necessity since there is another route but it's cost prohibitive.

I had a pump tec on my well at another house. Worked fine.

Cost of running a county water line is probably gonna run me $9,000 total. Grrr. Still have an easement issue to contend with too unless I buy the 5 acres.

Thanks for all the input/advice. This one is a tough nut to crack. (frack?)

Closest house is on the other side of a creek and at least a half mile away, probably more.

For house water - ugh. That right there says to me pay for county. Use the well water for outside to save a bit of money. The amount of rain you've had this year in Georgia you could have built collection/storage.

This is good advice.

I don't know your financial situation but buying the other 5 acres is probably a good idea as well. Land rarely loses value.
