We boarded him over the weekend to go to a wedding. The first thing he did when he got home was head for the pool, take a giant drink, then looked at his water bowl and was like "hey, man, fill her up with some of the fresh stuff"

I hate our tap because you can taste the chlorine in it. I think he has developed a strong preference for that taste when he drinks. Which is funny, due to dogs being able to smell so well and all.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting. Anyone else have similar experience?

The Tactical Shih Tzu will only drink fresh tap water. Possibly because the little brown one eats her own **** and then goes and drinks out of the same bowl. Closest I've got.

Our Boston uses the pet fountain. The malti-zhu will yip until someone turns on a sink faucet and holds her to drink from it, and the boxer mix will check all the toilets for an open lid before using the pet fountain.

May also have something to do with him not eating or drinking as much when you board him. I know my dog doesn't eat or drink nearly as much when he's not at home, simply out of separation anxiety, I'm sure. Always drinks and eats his fill as soon as he's home, back where he's comfortable.

Im going to ask a crazy question here but I live in Austin and the tap water tastes great to me at least. What does your dog drink when he is not slumming it with tap water? I say this knowing that my dog just chugged from a fetted pond today and is probably going to have a poop explosion tonight.
