I was fooling around with trimming some Pinion Pine branches this afternoon and I also made the mistake of picking up a few pine cones.

Other than wearing gloves, what are the OB recommendations for removing pine sap from your fingers?

Especially, what do you recommend carrying in the truck so you can clean up in the field before you smear pine sap everywhere?

Fast orange or pumice soap...

Isopropanol should work. I generally use a combo of that and GoJo if my hands get really dirty.

Honestly just rub enough dirt and/or sand over the sappy places to where it's not sticky. Normally washes off real easy for me after that.

As a kid spending summers in Mississippi my grandparents used PineSol. I'm sure there's a better solution but it worked.

We've got ScotchGuard. /Ron White

Yeah, sand cleans lots of stuff.

Thanks for the recommendations everybody. I'll check into several of them.

I used to work on trail clearing crews for the USFS and got covered in fir and pine sap all the time. Believe it or not, a crew member told me that applying some hand sanitizer and rubbing it into the spot(s) helps it un-stick. It has worked for me multiple times.
